PHYTO is one of the first brands
that researched the powerful active ingredients found in the plant
world and one of the rare manufacturers that produces the majority
of the plants used in creating its products.
After having gathered together all of the
information on plants from over the centuries, PHYTOSOLBA
Laboratories created a genuine computerized “library”,
with all of the documents, theses and articles that exist on
plants.
Each plant contains over
200 components with a chemical structure and juxtaposition
that offer a complete extract.
700 The number of plants used in creating PHYTO
products
After initially selecting the plants, the parts that are richest in
active ingredients are then identified: Roots, flowers, buds,
entire plants, fruits, gums, resins, saps, juices, seeds,
etc.

ABOUT PATRICK
ALES
|
In 1946, Patrick ALES
became interested in hairdressing after taking a summer job in the
profession. He began as a dispatch rider before being accepted as
an apprentice at the Louis GERVAIS salon on the Champs Elysees in
Paris.
Patrick ALES immediately became interested in the
science of hair care, noticing how the harsh chemicals in the
products of the day damaged hair and realising how little medical
research there was into hair and scalp treatments. He discussed his
feelings with herbalists whose knowledge of the health benefits of
plants encouraged him to imagine a line of plant-based hair care
products. He even considered abandoning his career as a
hairdresser, despite the reputation that he had built up in the
profession by this time, to study to become a doctor, or more
specifically a ‘hair doctor’. However, faced with the
scale of the task, the long years of study, and his
responsibilities towards his family, Patrick ALES finally decided
to continue his career as an internationally renowned
hairdresser.
At the time there were no products or brands
using plants as the active ingredient for hair and scalp
treatments. Everything needs to be invented and created. Patrick
ALES had embarked into totally unexplored territory, with no
markers to go by or established paths to follow. His ideas were
generally received with incredulity and scepticism.
Day after day, associating dedication and
patience, and with no commercial objective to start off with,
Patrick ALES experimented with formulae in his garage, implementing
the results of years of research into the beneficial properties of
plants in hair care.
The result was the launch, in the sixties, of HUILE
D’ALES, PHYTO 7, PHYTOPOLLEINE, PHYTOPOLLEINE PLUS, the
PHYTODEFRISANT hair balm, PHYTOSAPONARIA G25,
PHYTOMOUSSE S88, PHYTONEUTRE, HENNE NEUTRE MOUSSANT, and
PHYTOCAPUCINE. These products were initially designed as hair care
treatments for clients of the Patrick ALES salon. Today, several
decades on, a large proportion of the turnover of PHYTOSOLBA comes
from the products created by Patrick ALES during this period
because of their exceptional quality.
Soon dermatologists began to take an interest
in Patrick ALES products, and wanted to prescribe them to their
patients. Clients at the Patrick ALES salon were also asking to buy
the products.

PHYTO PHILOSOPHY
|
When he speaks about plants, his eyes
light up. And, he can speak for hours on end about the subject.
When he was 25, he discovered the plant world… leaves, roots
and extracts, which were dried or reduced to powder form and
kept in old jars. These were left by a healer in the farm
attic he had purchased in the Haute Provence region of France.
He was immediately captivated! He wanted to know everything about
their properties, powers…
He was a leading hair care professional
and had only one idea in mind: To create plant-based hair
treatments, which were uncommon at the time.
With the help of his wife and
some scientists, he transformed his garage into a workshop, where
he developed the first PHYTO 7 creams, which he mixed together
using an old bread kneading machine that had been thrown
out.
Today, as in the past, he continues to
work with his family and friends. His children help create the
products and his friends and customers test them.
A precursor, PHYTOTHERATHRIE was created in 1967. It was the
first cosmetic brand to use the PHYTO prefix. However, his work has
not always been easy…but that didn’t matter!
Patrick Ales has incredible drive and passion He believed in his
project and was determined to carry it through. In 1969, he founded the PHYTOSOLBA
Laboratory. He then developed other brands and companies that
were related to plants, nature and beauty.
By believing in something in
which no one else believed, and persisting in his research as well
as working closely with other researchers – chemists,
pharmacists and dermatologists – and cooperating with
prestigious scientific authorities (including the CNRS and the St
Louis hospital in Paris), he discovered the secrets of plants and
was able to use them to enhance the beauty of hair.
As he refused to conform to mainstream ideas, he created innovative
formulas with exceptional quality, which remain undisputable
references in the field of hair care. Today, more than ever,
Patrick Alès continues to draw his inspiration from the plant world
and has his sights resolutely focused on the future. “Life is
ahead of us” he says, referring to this field that is
immensely under-exploited.
Today, his faith and determination are still as strong, unique and
clearly modern: believe in wonders, respect nature and hair in
order to effectively manage them.
